History
The Garden Route Game Lodge was started in 1999 as an ambitious project to restore an area of once degraded farmland to its former glory and stock it with game that previously occurred there.
With the assistance of Dr Ken Coetzee of Conservation Management Services, a scientific study was conducted with the emphasis on sustainable utilization, long term conservation of the remaining natural habitats and the rehabilitation of already degraded lands. Once completed, scientific calculations were used to determine the carrying capacity of the reserve and the restocking program could begin.
Today a large variety of wildlife including the BIG 5 are once more at home in this private game reserve.

Besides the climate the area boasts a very good infrastructure, with the Garden Route Game Lodge being only 80km form the nearest national airport. Despite this development the Garden Route, which begins in Albertinia, has a very low crime statistic.

Garden Route Game Lodge caters for those keen to see game and experience a bit of Africa on their trip along the Garden Route.

Private Chalets
Exclusive accommodation in luxury thatched chalets with en suite bathrooms designed to offer guests complete comfort and relaxation in a beautiful setting.The use of natural materials such as thatch, stone and timber, blend in with the African style decor to create an unforgettable impression. Linked to the Main Lodge via a wooden walkway overgrown with Aloes and fynbos, the chalets offer seclusion and privacy ideal for honeymoon couples.

Children Policy
Children of all ages are welcome at the Garden Route Game Lodge and are specially catered for.
Children are accommodated in our Luxury Lodge Family Rooms only.
Children between 6 and 12 years pay half price for accommodation packages, meals & game drives.
Children between 3 and 6 years pay quarter price for accommodation packages, meals & game drives
Children under 3 are free.
Children are accommodated in two separate beds.
A maximum of 2 children and 1 infant can be accommodated per room with a maximum of 2 adults sharing
All activities forming part of the Kids on Safari including extra game drives are included in your stay.
Mom and dad are welcome to join the kids game drive at 2pm.
Child minders can be arranged during game drive times as well as meal times.
Child minding is done by Lodge staff at an additional cost.

Transfers
Transfers to and from Garden Route Game Lodge can be arranged from Cape Town and Garden Route.
Deposit Policy
A 50% deposit will be required on confirmation of your booking and the balance is due 30 days prior to arrival. For bookings made within 40 days of travel, full payment is required on confirmation.

Cancellation Policy
No Verbal cancellations will be accepted.
Only written cancellations will be accepted. Ensure that you receive an acknowledgement of your cancellation from reservations. Any refunds if agreed are subject to a 10% administration fee.
1. Cancel on arrival or during the stay – the full payment due
2. Cancel 1 – 14 days before arrival or no show – full payment due
3. Cancel 15 to 28 days before arrival – 50% of payment due
4. Cancel 29+ days prior to arrival – 25% of payment due
5. The above cancellation penalties will also apply should there be a reduction in room/cabin numbers.
