Set on the banks of the Mutlumuvi Riverbed on the Southern end of the concession, the elegant 8 suite (16 bed) Rhino Post Safari Lodge is built using natural materials of stone, wood, thatch & canvas.

The utmost care was taken to minimise the environmental impact of the lodge, and to that end, no concrete was used in the buildings, careful consideration was taken in the layout of the lodge, battery power is used for lighting, special indigenous Reedbed System processes the bathroom waste, and other waste is sorted and recycled wherever possible.

Stilts raise the spaciously appointed suites from the riverbank allowing guests to view the Mutlumuvi riverbed with ease from the bedroom, bathroom and private wooden deck. The suites are set out in an open plan style with wooden floors, thatched roofs, canvas walls and a ceiling fan. Each ensuite bathroom includes a deep, freestanding bath, ‘his and hers’ basins, a separate toilet, and an outdoor shower protected by thick reed poles. The bathroom floor is attractively decorated with delicate mosaic designs complimenting the contemporary floor.

The dining area set under Tamboti trees, allows for al fresco dinners, cool lunches in the heat of a summer afternoon and snug winter dining, while candlelight riverbed dinners and breakfasts, under the protection of armed guards, are a wonderful, alternative bush experience. Both the swimming pool & lounge overlook an active waterhole in the riverbed. The lounge, with its extensive wine cellar, fireplace and bar provide a perfect setting for an afternoon or evening sundowner.

A typical day would include an early start, a cup of fresh coffee or tea, after which guests set out on their game drive. Game-drive safaris at Rhino Post are conducted in specially adapted open Landcruisers, with professional guides. Guides at the lodge meet the stringent requirements of the South African National Parks and senior guides hold the highest guiding qualification possible in South Africa to ensure that your encounters with the African wilderness are exciting, informative, and safe. Upon returning to the lodge guests enjoy a leisurely brunch and time to relax around the pool overlooking the waterhole. In the late afternoon after a delicious high tea, you can enjoy an evening game drive, winding down with sundowners, watching an African sunset and spotting nocturnal animals in the park.

Back at the lodge enjoy a sumptuous dinner on the deck or in the riverbed, as you recount the day’s events all the while accompanied by the night sounds of the bush.

In addition to our wilderness concession, we have exclusive use of some of the Kruger Park public roads at night. The Kruger Park has strict gate closing times (before sunset) for their rest camps & access gates. We are allowed to utilise certain public roads for night/evening drives well after gate closing times.

Another option available for guests is for a full or ½ day game drive on the Kruger public roads with a picnic lunch en-route. The full or ½ day option is by prior arrangement.

12 Years and under: 50% of rate
12+: 75% of rate

Payment & Cancellation Policy
To secure the reservation, 20% deposit is required on confirmation. Balance is due 30 days prior to arrival
In the event of booking less than 30 days prior to arrival, full payment is required on confirmation

If booking is cancelled more than 30 days prior to arrival: 10% of the full accommodation will be charged
If booking is cancelled less than 30 days prior to arrival: 50% of full accommodation will be charged
If booking is cancelled less than 7 days prior to arrival: 100% of full accommodation will be charged
Refunds are subject to a 10% administration fee

All guests shall settle their extras account in full prior to departure
Late arrival fee will be applicable for a private escort after Kruger Gate closes
